Batman - Gadgets
Batman might not have superpowers. He might be unable to fly, run at supersonic speed or create items out of pure willpower. But he is smart, and he’s prepared.
What Batman and the Bat-Family lack super powers, but they more than make up for with their amazing gadgets, which can be used in a variety of ways to take down Gotham City’s most dangerous Super-Villains.
From Batclaws and Gauntlets to Ice Launchers and Hacking Pads, Batman has a gadget for every situation.
Base Gadgets
The following gadgets will available from the start of the map
Batclaw
Obtained by: Starting Gadget
One of the most used tools in Batman’s arsenal, the Batclaw allows the Bat-Family rapid movement through the city, allowing them to scale the sides of buildings and escape danger in the blink of an eye.
Hook on to golden girders and traverse the rooftops of Gotham City, avoiding the Super-Villains and dangers of the streets below or use it to reach those hard-to-reach spots and uncover some of Gotham’s secrets.
Batarang
Obtained by: Starting Gadget
Batman’s signature weapon, the Batarang, is a versatile tool useful in a variety of situations. Fighting enemies, knocking down items to distract or damage foes, blowing up explosives - there’s no limit to the Batarang’s usefulness when fighting crime!
The Cape
Obtained by: Starting Gadget
When you think of Batman and the Bat-Family, the first thing you likely think of is their cape, stretched out over the skyline of Gotham City, swooping down to action.
But the Cape isn’t just an iconic and savvy fashion accessory; it allows the Bat-Family to glide from the tallest roof to the smallest ledge of Gotham City, rapidly reaching the streets without so much as a scratch.
The Gauntlets
Obtained by: Starting Gadget
While Batman usually prefers to stay in the shadows, there comes a time when a Super-Villain can’t be taken down from range, and when that time comes, Batman goes face to face and pulls out The Gauntlets.
Storing the kinetic energy of Batman’s punches, the Gauntlets charge with every hit. After two successful punches, the third punch lets out a powerful burst of energy which knocks nearby enemy mobs back and deals massive damage to the targeted enemy.
Armies of goons and henchmen are no match for the power of the Gauntlets.
Detective Vision
Obtained by: Starting Gadget
An often overlooked aspect of Batman is that he’s not just The Dark Knight, The Caped Crusader and other dramatic titles involving chivalry and justice. Batman is also The World’s Greatest Detective with a frightening intellect able to deduce almost any scheme or puzzle by analysing clues and deductive reasoning.
To help him with this, all suits come with Detective Vision installed, allowing the Bat-Family to scan their environment and reveal clues.
To activate Detective Vision, all they need to do is crouch for a moment, and the visor will slide down, revealing hidden clue blocks in the area. Exceptionally useful for finding The Riddler’s puzzle pieces and uncovering the missing Batsuits.
The Batmobile
Obtained: in the Batcave or Hideouts
Batman’s iconic car, the Batmobile, is THE way to travel the troubled streets of Gotham City and take down Batman’s greatest foes. Press the button in the Bat Cave and watch it rise from the garage below, ready to take you anywhere you want.
Map of Gotham City
Obtained by: Starting Gadget
While Batman and the Bat-Family know Gotham like the back of their hands, it never hurts to have references to help direct citizens and policemen around the city. This helpful map of Gotham shows the city's borders, different districts of Gotham, and the locations of where the city’s Super-Villains are hiding.
Unlockable Gadgets
The following gadgets will be unlocked upon defeating a Super Villain
Hacker Pad
Obtained by: Defeating The Penguin
As a Crimeboss, The Penguin always has to be on the cutting edge of technology to scam, hack and steal the technological marvels of Gotham City and fuel his criminal empire. The crown jewel of his nefarious technology is the Hacker Pad.
Use this pad next to a mechanically locked door or powered-down fan and watch it spring to life, bypassing all security protocols that might be keeping it locked down. See a pesky explosive laser that is in your way? Bring out the Hacker Pad and turn it off!
Ice Launcher
Obtained by: Defeating Mr. Freeze
Powered by Mr. Freeze’s cryo technology, what once was a tool of villainy is now a weapon for good.
Charging up to fire super frozen icicles at anything in its way, the Ice Launcher freezes enemies and water alike, slowing enemies to a crawl and creating safe paths across electrified water or towers from gushing streams.
Frozen enemies can also be instantly defeated. Hit a frozen enemy, and they’ll be shattered into ice cubes!
BNT Cart
Obtained by: Defeating Firefly and Clayface
Repurposed from the deadly weapons crafted by Firefly and Clayface, the BNT Cart is more versatile than you might expect.
It is not just a cart that goes boom; once put down, the BNT Cart will charge forward on its own, detonating in a more controlled boom after a short time or if it collides with something. Say, for example, a villainous henchman or a boarded-up wall.
Thankfully Batman’s high-tech means it won’t damage the rest of the city. The poor citizens put up with enough.
Plant Stimulant
Obtained by: Defeating Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn
One of Poison Ivy’s precious plants, this quaint little tulip hides a big secret!
Inside the tulip is a quick-growing pollen which makes potted seeds sprout into long vines or giant trees, helpful in climbing up and making a quick getaway when there are no girders for the Batclaw to grab onto.
Firing the pollen at enemies will cause roots to wrap around them, slowing them to a standstill so they can be taken down easier by the mighty Gauntlets.
The Joker Car
Obtained by: Defeating The Joker
One of The Joker’s most diabolical weapons is now used to fight Gotham City's crime. The Joker Car looks like a harmless toy, but don’t be fooled! It's actually a bomb in disguise!
Place it down and it’ll drive around randomly in any direction, weaving wildly while shooting out smaller bombs to stun surrounding enemies before finally exploding in a vast boom, damaging enemies, but thankfully leaving the city unscathed, thanks to the Bat-Family’s technical mastery.
The thugs and goons of Gotham know The Joker’s nasty tricks very well and will do what they can to destroy the car before it explodes.
Constructed Gadgets
The following gadgets will be unlocked after rebuilding the Gadget Stations in the Batcave
Batman Pickaxe
Obtained by: Reconstructing the Blacksmith Gadget Station
Blowing up walls with explosives can be fun and exciting, but what do you do when you need to be silent and precise? When an enemy is just around the corner, and there’s nowhere to run except that abandoned ventilation shaft behind those loose bricks? In that case, you need the Batman Pickaxe.
Forged in the heart of the Batcave in their specialised Blacksmith’s Forge, the Batman Pickaxe is a quick and efficient tool to break down walls, uncover shortcuts through the buildings of Gotham City, or uncover secrets hidden by The Riddler.
Tasty Cake
Obtained by: Reconstructing the Kitchen Gadget Station
Who can resist cake? Well, clearly not the Super-Villains and thugs of Gotham City!
Lovingly crafted in the Batcave’s specialised kitchen, the Tasty Cake distracts all melee enemies, who will flock to it and munch it down until it's all gone, allowing you to sneak past them or knock them out.
Auto-Snow Turret
Obtained by: Reconstructing the Laboratory Gadget Station
The Super-Villains of Gotham City are nefarious and dastardly, but they aren’t always that bright, as evidenced by the Auto-Snow Turret.
A snowball turret cleverly disguised as a snow Batman! The Auto-Snow Turret will also throw snowballs at any nearby villains, taunting them to advance until it’s defeated or melts into the streets of Gotham, its job complete as you slink away into the shadows or take on the distracted foes.
Zap Crossbow
Obtained by: Reconstructing the Shooting Range Gadget Station
The Bat-Family have a strong philosophy against firearms. However, non-lethal ranged weaponry can be effective in the fight against injustice, such as the Zap Crossbow.
Developed in the Batcave’s Shooting Range, the Zap Crossbow fires tasered bolts that shock enemies, rooting them to the spot and preventing them from moving or attacking.
Firing at enemies in water or that have been drenched by water causes the electricity to arc and hit all nearby enemies as well, stopping them dead in their tracks.
But not actually dead because the Bat-Family don’t kill; they bring criminals to justice!
